My family just returned from the Eastpointe Art and Ice Festival. It was fun with lots of things to do.
The weather seemed just right, cold enough for the ice sculptures and comfortable for the people to view. The ice sculptures were donated by some of the businesses in Eastpointe and were absolutely gorgeous. There were a variety of sculptures such as Mickey Mouse; UPS truck (which I thought was original because it even had a place in the back of it for packages), a Birthday Cake, Sea Horse, Jester among many. The UPS truck was my favorite but the jester and seahorse came close. I was able to witness one of the live ice sculpting shows in front of Star Bucks. It was fascinating to see something so beautiful come to life from a block of ice. I didn’t realize how many tools it takes to make one.
My daughter had her face painted and the lady did a wonderful job, it was artistic and different. There was complimentary coffee and popcorn. Everyone there was friendly and there was a lot going on for the kids.
Art work by some talented school children were displayed along with some community artist’s work.
Catherine Green executive director of the Eastpointe Chamber of Commerce did a lovely job setting it all up. I know there was a lot more going on that I missed. Did anyone else go to the Ice Festival? I would love to hear what you did and what your thoughts were about it? What did you see and do? What did you like most about it?
